Scoutmaster’s Minute
The
Scoutmaster's Minute is an excellent opportunity to get Scouts thinking
about the ideals represented in the Scout Oath and law. It is your chance
as the Scoutmaster to communicate a message that will help your Scouts
mature into the kind of citizens we hope will lead this nation in the
future. Scoutmaster's Minutes normally are short stories that make a
point, but they can be something that really get the Scouts involved - the
best way to teach.
As you've probably noticed, boys aren't willing to sit
still and listen for very long. Scoutmaster's minutes are usually very
brief. They often occur near the end of a Scout meeting, but a good Leader
will find that the best times for these lessons sneak up on the boys.
Perhaps during the silence following an early sunrise hike, or in the
solemn minutes after a campfire program would be a good time for a SMM.
